Milk Teeth

Unless you are clairvoyant or prophetic, there is nothing in a baby’s face to suggest that a Nobel Prize winner was just born. Every baby must cut their teeth. To make it to the Director’s suite, one must have well-horned technical skills and must survive the jungle of one thousand human demons in social relationships. Hence, we must all grow and there is nothing wrong in being fresh. The need to learn is what matters.

Jesus Christ mentored this point for his disciples to understand that grasping new knowledge surely take stages, yet maturing is equally important (Hebrews 5:13). Paul also said, “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able” (I Corinthians 3:2).

This column addresses some of the issues expected to challenge new Christian converts eager to make sense of many practices that others take for granted in Christian fellowships. In addition, what are the grey areas about and why do some gatherings emphasize one behavior over the other. More importantly, what scriptural foundations predate the different interpretations.
